eSign Consent

Before any signer can place a signature in Loyva, they must accept an eSign consent disclosure. This satisfies the UETA and federal E-SIGN Act requirement that signers knowingly agree to do business electronically.

When consent is shown

  1. eSign consent appears the first time a signer opens a signing link, before the signing widget loads. The signer sees:

  2. Who is sending the document

  3. The disclosure language explaining electronic records and signatures

  4. Their name (pre-filled from the envelope) and email

  5. An I agree action to proceed

Why it's mandatory

  • Required by UETA / E-SIGN for enforceable electronic signatures.

  • Recorded in the audit trail with timestamp and IP address.

  • Cannot be skipped. Every signing link routes through consent first.

Name handling

The signer's name on the consent screen comes from Loyva's record of that signer. This keeps consent, signing, and the audit trail aligned. The name field is locked at this step so it can't be changed mid-flow.

Copy Link behavior

When you copy a signer's link, Loyva returns an internal Loyva URL (not a direct provider URL), so the eSign consent step is always shown first. Sharing the link by text or chat is fine; consent is preserved either way.

Note: If a signer declines consent, the envelope stays open and you'll see the decline event. You can re-send or contact the signer directly.
