Sequential vs. Parallel Signer Order

When an envelope has more than one signer, you choose the order in which they sign. Loyva supports both parallel (everyone at once) and sequential (one after the other).

Parallel signing

  • All signers receive the invitation at the same time and can sign in any order. Use this when:

  • Signers are independent (no one needs to wait on anyone else).

  • You want the fastest possible turnaround.

  • Order doesn't matter legally.

Sequential signing

  • Each signer is invited only after the previous signer completes. Use this when:

  • A junior party signs first, then a manager or attorney countersigns.

  • You need one party to fill in fields before another reviews.

  • The contract requires a specific signing order.

Set the order

  1. In the Send for Signature dialog, toggle Set signing order on.

  2. Drag signers into the order they should sign.

  3. Send. The first signer is invited immediately; later signers are invited automatically as the previous one completes.

Status in the UI

Signers who haven't been invited yet show as Awaiting and don't have Copy Link or Remind actions. There's no link to share until it's their turn. Once the previous signer completes, the next signer is invited and their actions become available.

Note: If you need to change the order after sending, recall the envelope, reorder the signers, and send a new one. Order can't be edited in flight.
