Switching Between Organizations

If you belong to more than one organization in Loyva. For example you do work for two companies, or you’re an admin in one and a custodian in another, you can switch between them at any time without signing out. Everything in Loyva (clients, documents, vault, reports, settings) is scoped to the org you’re currently viewing.

Where the organization switcher lives

The org switcher appears at the top of the left sidebar, just under the Loyva logo. It shows:

  1. A small building icon.

  2. The current organization’s name.

  3. A colored role badge showing your role in this org (Admin, Sales, or Custodian).

  4. A small chevron (▾) on the right indicating it’s a dropdown.

The switcher only appears if you belong to two or more organizations. If you’re only in one org, the org name is shown but it isn’t clickable.

Switching to a different organization

  1. In the sidebar, click the organization name (the panel with the building icon and chevron).

  2. A dropdown opens listing every organization you have access to. Your current org is highlighted.

  3. Click the organization you want to switch to.

  4. Loyva reloads the workspace with that org’s data. Clients, documents, vault, and settings now reflect the new org.

If your role in the new org is different from your role in the previous one, Loyva will route you to the appropriate dashboard automatically. E.g. switching into an org where you’re a sales user lands you on the Sales dashboard, even if you were on the admin dashboard a moment ago.

What changes when you switch

  • Clients, documents, proposals, billing, reports: all filtered to the new org.

  • Your role and permissions: the role badge under the org name updates immediately. Sidebar links shown or hidden based on the new role.

  • Notification preferences: stored per org, so toggles in My Preferences > Email Notifications reflect this org’s settings.

  • Vault access and PIN: each org has its own vault and its own per-user PIN. Switching orgs means re-entering the PIN for that org’s vault.

  • Integrations: Stripe, QuickBooks, Gmail, and Outlook connections are scoped to the org that set them up.

What doesn’t change

  • Your sign-in session: you stay logged in.

  • Your profile (name, phone, email, password): those live on your user account, not on the org.

  • The inactivity timeout: it keeps running across switches.

Frequently asked questions

I only see one organization. How do I get a second one?
Either ask an admin at another org to invite your email address, or create a new organization yourself if you’re a Super Admin. Standard users can’t spin up new orgs directly.

My role badge in the sidebar is wrong after switching.
Hard-refresh the page (Cmd/Ctrl + R). The role is fetched per org on switch: if the cached value is stale, a refresh forces it to re-read.

Can I have different notification preferences in each org?
Yes. Preferences are per user and per org. Switch to the org first, then update My Preferences > Email Notifications.

I switched orgs and my vault is locked again. Why?
Vault PINs are stored per user, per org. Each org has its own vault with its own PIN. Re-enter the PIN you set for the org you just switched into.

Will switching orgs sign me out of the other one?
No. There’s a single sign-in session across all your orgs. Switching just changes which org’s data Loyva shows you.
